I Hate Tom Brady!

The Ultimate Vindication!!! (Updated 2-6-2008)
Ken,
Your were right..Brady was destined to fall..
I coulnd't be happier.. That's what they get for letting their pride get in the way.
It's payback and poetic justice for all the times they ran up the score this year, for
playing for TD and scoring records and trying to rub it in the league's face. And for
being cocky ass smug jerks the entire season.
I wonder if ESPN and the NFL network will retract all that BS about them being the best
ever and how they would beat the 72 Dolphins, the '78 Steelers, the '89 Niners and the
'92 Cowboays. Last time I checked, those teams all won the Super Bowl.
Also, I wonder if they'll retract their unanymous and unwarranted coronation of Brady as
the best Quarterback of all time. Last time I checked, Joe Montana never lost a Super
Bowl. And one great statistical year does not the greatest Quarterback make.
As I said earlier: The Patriots are not the greatest team I have ever seen. And Brady is
not the best Quarterback I have ever seen.
Not even close.

I just saw the third installemnt of Parcells.. This time is was the '85 Bears versus the current Patsies. In Parcells' words..."The Pats would spread them out and Brady would pick them apart." Nice.. Umm, I noticed how they didn't talk about whether the game would be played under the old rules or the new rules. Kind of an important factor don't ya think?? If they played back in 1985 I know for a fact that Brady would end up flat on his back and out of the game. End of discussion.
Is it really fair to ask Parcells about this given that he and Belichick are old Butt Buddies?? Next on the list are my '89 Niners. Now I know, all things being equal, rule changes or no rule changes, the Niners would kick their collective asses. Ronnie Lott in the back field would knock Moss on his ass. And then you have Montana versus Brady: Class versus Classless.
I don't know.. Brady is a better dresser so maybe that would put the Patsies over the top.
NOT!!!!!!!

Well, as expected, the media has already crowned the Patsies the best team ever. They were letting Parcells decide who was better between the Patsies and the '78 Steelers. I'm glad I didn't see what
he said because I probably would have punched my TV. I think it's much much harder to make a case that the '78 Steelers are not the best team ever than it is to say they are. I mean, how many hall of
famers?? All drafted by the same team?? Not to mention they beat the Cowboys in the superbowl--that was an AMAZING team also (who won the super bowl the year prior I might add).
I can't help but wonder how they managed to lose 2 games that year. (?)
I couldn't stand that little bitch Brady throwing passes into triple coverage just to get Moss and him the TD records. The best thing that could ever happen would be for Tom Brady to get injured--like a
REAL serious one. Like how about a ruptured achilles? Nah, I'm sure he's on HGH so nothing like that will take him out..

What happened to our Steelers?? I guess they are in a kind of lull right now..
I've decided that I can't take the the hate--it's overwhelming. So I have vowed not to pay attention to the NFL for the rest of the year. It just hurts too much to watch my Niners
Wallow in the mire--Nolan is the worst coach I have ever seen at managing a game. Five LOSING SEASONS in a row for the Niners is too much for a rational man to handle.
Not to mention our fair friend Brady. Let's face it and put all the emotional mumbo jumbo aside.. the guy is a good QB and is having an amazing year--one of the best ever statistically.
I'll concede that much. But let's look at the entire picture. The guy just isn't as dynamic as Staubach, Bradshaw, Montana, Elway, Young and Favre. Those guys could make something out of nothing,
scramble around and throw a pass out of their ass if they needed to. Our boy Brady doesn't have that ability. He's sctrictly a pocket passer. That's why when he gets pressured he's mediocre at best.
And that's the long and short of why he doens't compare to the true greats of the past.
I'd love to see the Steelers lay the smack down on the Pats in the playoffs. The Pats are a great team (by today's standards for what that's worth). But their defense isn't all that great--they are old and slow.
I submit as evidence the Ravens game. They just pounded it down their throat. I could see them getting upset in their first game by the Jags cause they run the ball and have a smashmouth defense.
The Pats will likely go undefeated in the regular season. But I think the Colts are a better team all around. And they just need to play a decent game without turning the ball over and they will beat them in
NE.

It is amazing how quickly people forget the past and how truly great some of the past players in the NFL were.
I'm writing this because I am sick and tired of the media comparing Tom Brady to Joe Montana and crowning him as the greatest QB of all time.
I am a die hard Niner fan. I'm 39 years old and my father used to take me to Niner games back in the late 70s when they were awful. I witnessed the last game on Astroturf (which they happened to win) and OJ's last game. Needless to say, I have lived through the good and the bad. I admit to having a 49er bias. Having said that, ultimately, I am a football fan. And I appreciate true greatness when I see it regardless of whose colors the player happens to wear,
I have seen some great quarterbacks: Bradshaw, Stauback, Montana, Marino, Elway, Young, Aikman, Favre.. Those are the best quarterbacks that I have ever seen. And Tom Brady is not in that class.
There are several reasons why I don't think Tom Brady is among the game's all-time elite. First off, if you examine his super bowl wins they're not all that impressive. I think Venatari deserves almost as much credit for those wins as Brady. The Pats won all of those games by a field goal. And isn't it sad to suggest that a kicker could have as much influence on the outcome of the game as a the winning QB?? That aside, the Pats shouldn't have even been in that first super bowl against the Rams. Brady fumbled the ball against the Raiders and everyone knows it. So, he should really only have 2 Super Bowl wins. Last time I checked, that's not enough to get you into the hall of fame. Ask Jim Plunket.
By comparison, the 49ers couldn't have won their super bowls without Montana--think about those games and you will know this to be true (not to mention "The Catch" game). He dominated those games and effected the outcome to the very end--remember "the drive" against the Bengals. Brady has never had a "drive." At best, he moved the team 20-30 yards down the field at the end to kick a field goal. This was the case against the Rams and the Panthers.
Sure, Brady has pretty good numbers overall. But let's look at this realistically. The game has changed significantly. You can't even sneeze near the quarterback anymore without getting a 15 yard penalty. Montana went up against the Bears 46 defense (and later the Eagles) and the amazing defense that the Giants had. He got knocked out of several games with concussions and even had back surgery as a result of being hit.
Imagine Brady going up against the 70s Steel Curtain or the '85 Bears 46 defense. If he would have had to face any of those bone crushing defenses several times a year I don't think he would last very long..
Can Brady even take a hit--a hit like Montana (or any of the others mentioned) took time and time again?? He's been sacked like 5 times so far this season (all by the Cowboys--correct me if I'm wrong but it's close). I witnessed one play this year when the Pats were playing the Bengals. Brady was about to be hit and he cowered like a little school girl (nothing against school girls). I also remember him going down without being hit last year against the Colts in teh champoinship game. It was reminiscent of Jim Everett in the championship game against the Niners in 1989. Monday night John Madden said that he's hasn't seen protection like that since Montana. I beg to differ. Can someone look up how many times Montana was sacked in the '89 season (I pick that years because it's considered his best and most dominant)? I bet he was sacked at least 30 times.
The point being that until I see otherwise, Tom Brady hasn't shown that he can face major adversity. He's been extremely lucky in terms of injuries and the absence of formidable adversaries (i.e good rival teams to go up against). The rules are stacked in his favor, his offensive line is obviously among the best ever and he never gets hit. Heck, has he ever been injured?? We're not talking Brett Favre here--now that guy can take a hit, get back up and laugh it off with the defensive lineman. Now that's toughness. Remember that great picture of Montana on the cover of Sports Illustrated of the Eagles/Niners game--he is being engulphed by their defense (another great Buddy Ryan defense). That was the game where he got sacked several times and came back and threw 4 touchdowns in the 4th quarter to win. Now that's greatness. Think about that play Elway made where he dove for the 1st down in the Super Bowl against the Packers. He was hit so hard he spun around a few times in mid air. he wanted it so bad he laid his body on the line time and time again. That is toughness also. I just don't see that toughness in Brady. All I see is a decent QB with a TON of luck.
Regarding the rules changing..you can even go back farther to 1978. Before 1978 the cornerbacks could jam the receivers all the way down the field. Which is why, from 1978 on, you started seeing the QB ratings jump significantly. Look at how different Bradshaw's numbers were from 1978 compared to the previous years. From 1978 on Bradshaw had 119 TDs to 92 INTs. Prior to that he was 93/107. Stauback was 101/82 before '78 and 52/27 after.
Not only has the game changed, the competition isn't there. Think of the adversity the Steelers faced in the 70s--The Raiders and the Dolphins (not to mention the Cowboys and Vikings in the super bowl) and who the Niners faced in the 80s and 90s (The Bears, Giants, Redskins and the great Cowboys of the 90s--not to mention the Packers). Those were some great teams. Who have the Patriots faced?? The Colts?? The Colts didn't come into the Pats league until last year--after their three Super Bowls. Let's see if they can prove to be a worthy rival this year. All of the other decades which I personally witnessed--the 70s, 80s, and 90s had some great teams. There was competition back then. Now it appears as though the NFL is a joke. I hate to say it but I am enjoying College Football more this year.
I also don't buy that "nice guy" image he tries to portray. When the Colts beat the Patriots in the championship game last year Brady ran off the field--he didn't have the decency to congratulate Manning like a real man would. Judge a man by his actions not what he says..
Also... Can anybody name one Tom Brady signature moment?? Anything like "The Catch" or "The Drive?" Can someone come forward and please name one Tom Brady signature moment? Because I sure have some fantastic memories of Bradshaw, Montana, Elway, Favre etc etc..
So, Brady has had it easy. He'll probably go on to win the Super bowl this year and be crowned the greatest of all time by the media. I guess that's what it's all about though--the hype. It's what sells. But let's be real, think about those other Quarterbacks I mentioned. Do you really think Brady is better than Dan Marino, John Elway, Troy Aikman, Steve Young or Brett Favre?? Look at them as a total package--how they played, what they had to play with in terms of a team and who they played against. All their signature drives and signature plays they made to win games at the last minute etc etc.--all their 4th quarter comebacks. Brady has had no signature drive--no signature moments. At best he's played good role in a great team. He's a role player to put it bluntly.
So, to get back to my original point, the answer unequivocally is "NO!" Brady is not as good as any of those quarterbacks. Having said that, he's nowhere near as good as Montana. At best, he could be compared to Troy Aikman. But I'd take Troy any day over Brady. And I HATE the cowboys!
